The Youth Swim Lesson Program provides children an opportunity to learn in a student centered environment where each child can learn skills at their own pace. Student to teacher ratio 8:1. Included in this program are the components of Personal Safety, Personal Growth, Water Sports and Games as well as Stroke Development and Rescue.

POLLIWOG Youth Beginner [02202]
This is the beginner class for children 6 and older who have little or no water experience/skills, or who are uncomfortable getting their face wet. Emphasis on safety and comfort in a pool environment.
(01) Monday 6:45 – 7:30 p.m.
(02) Tuesday 7 – 7:45 p.m.
(03) Wednesday 4:25 – 5:10 p.m.
(04) Thursday 4 – 4:45 p.m.
(05) Friday 4:30 – 5:15 p.m.
(06) Saturday 8:45 – 9:30 a.m.

ADVANCED POLLIWOG Youth Beginner [02203]
The class introduces basic floating, freestyle (front crawl), backstroke and water safety skills. Strong emphasis is placed on proper use of equipment and swimming techniques. If a child was previously a Pike or Eel and has turned 6, they should enter this class. To advance to the next level, the child should be comfortable in the water swimming at least ½ the length on their front, back and side.

(04) Thursday 5:45 – 6:30 p.m.

GUPPY Youth Advanced Beginner [02204]
This class is for the youth who can swim ½ the length on their front, back and side and comfortable working in the deep water. Emphasis will be on establishing horizontal position, stroke development and rotary breathing. If a child was previously a Ray or Starfish and has turned 6, they should enter this class. To advance to the next level, the child should be able to swim one length of the pool completely unassisted with rhythmic/rotary breathing.

(04) Thursday 4:45 – 5:30 p.m.

MINNOW Youth Intermediate [ 02207]
This level is for the youth who can swim 1 length of the pool (75 feet) unassisted with rhythmic/rotary breathing. Strokes are refined with emphasis on horizontal position while performing rotary breathing, back and side strokes with an introduction to breaststroke and elementary backstroke. To advance to the next level, the child should be able to swim two lengths of front and back with one length of breaststroke.

(03) Wednesday 4:25 – 5:10 p.m.
(04) Thursday 4:00 – 4:45 p.m.
(05) Friday 5:15 – 6:00 p.m.

(07) Saturday 10:10 – 10:55 a.m.

FISH Youth Advanced Intermediate [02208 ]
This level is for the youth who can swim two lengths of front and back with one length of breaststroke. Review and practice freestyle and backstroke with refinement of breaststroke, introduction to butterfly kick and treading for one minute. Lesson includes work on endurance, stroke refinement and swimming terms such as yardage, sets and drills. To advance to the next level, the child should be able to swim four lengths (100 yards) of freestyle and backstroke with two length of breaststroke. Class may be combined with Flying Fish and Shark pending enrollment.

(02) Tuesday 7:45 – 8:30 p.m.
(03) Thursday 4:45 – 5:30 p.m.
(04) Saturday 11:35 – 12:20 p.m.

FLYING FISH Youth Advanced [02209 ]
This level is for the youth who can swim four lengths (100 yards) of freestyle with rotary breathing, backstroke, and two lengths of breaststroke all in good form. Class includes introduction of butterfly, flip turns and bilateral breathing, and building endurance in all strokes. To advance to the next level, the child should be able to swim eight lengths (200 yards) of freestyle and backstroke with four lengths of breaststroke with open turns in great form. Class may be combined with Fish and Shark pending enrollment.

(03) Thursday 4:45 – 5:30 p.m.
(04) Saturday 11:35 – 12:20 p.m.

SHARK Youth Advanced [02210]
This level is for the youth who can swim four lengths (100 yards) of freestyle and backstroke with two length of breaststroke with open turns in great form. Class will work on elementary backstroke with glide, and perfecting all strokes. This class is for serious swimmers who have great endurance and desire to improve their stroke quality. Class may be combined with Fish and Flying Fish pending enrollment.
