BAD WEATHER POLICY
In the event of inclement weather (i.e. thunder, lightening, or unseasonably cold temperatures) the Brandywine YMCA will have information regarding facility closings or late openings. Please call the YMCA (478-9622) before coming out to swim. According to Health Department Regulations, for safety reasons during electrical storms, the pool and pool deck will close until 30 minutes after the last clap of thunder or the last bolt of lightning. The facility and pool may close early at the discretion of the YMCA staff due to anticipated extreme weather conditions.

SLIDE RULES
One swimmer is permitted to go down the slide at a time. The swimmer waiting at the top of the slide must wait until the swimmer in the water reaches the ladder before going down the slide. No one is permitted to use the slide without passing the water test. No one is permitted to use the blue slide with a flotation device on or with a parent standing at the bottom of the slide. These rules are in place for you and your child’s safety.

SWIM TEST POLICY
For the safety of our swimmers, we will be swim testing all children under the age of 14 years old. If you do not wish to take the swim test, you will be given a bracelet and asked to stay in the shallow end of the pool. If you wish to go down the slide you will need to be able to swim the length of the pool and tread water/float for one minute. We will be keeping records of our test, so you will only need to take the test one time. If you would like to retake the swim test to try and improve, we are happy to retest at any time.
