SMART START SESSION
(Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic & Time oriented goals)
During this goal setting consultation, a wellness professional will work with you to understand your unique needs and how to overcome obstacles. Together we will discuss ways to help you get started and how to measure success. Not only will S.M.A.R.T. Start help you to get acquainted with our staff and offerings at the YMCA, but it is an excellent opportunity to get your health and wellness questions answered. PERSONAL TRAINING [01602]
We will design a personalized workout based upon your goals. Let us help you increase your level of physical activity by finding movement you enjoy. Ask for a packet at the front desk, complete it, return it, and purchase the amount of hours you want. A personal trainer will contact you to schedule the date(s) and time(s) of your sessions.

HEALTHWISE
Ages 14 & over with Physical Conditions/Limitations
Has your physician told you it is necessary for you to begin an exercise program? If you have a medical condition or physical limitation, we want to help you succeed in an inclusive environment by offering you 3 FREE personal training sessions. During this program you will work to improve your cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination one step at a time. Doctor’s referral/clearance is necessary. Ask for a packet at the front desk.

MASSAGE [01517]
Our licensed massage therapist will be offering a variety of massage techniques including Swedish and Deep Tissue. Massages will be offered at various times of the week based upon the therapist’s availability. Please call the Bodywork Hotline at 478-9622 ext. 56 for an appointment or information. Please pay at the front desk prior to your massage appointment.

STRENGTH TRAINING FOR OLDER ADULTS
Ages 65 and over
We begin to lose bone density, balance and coordination as we age. The good news is that there is something we can do about it! Strength training and creating a fitness regime can deter or prevent these issues from occurring. Three FREE personal training sessions will teach you how to build your muscle strength, endurance, and increase your mobility. Everyday activities will become easier, posture will improve, and you’ll look and feel great! Pick up an information packet at the front desk.

REIKI [01512]
Reiki is an energy session to help relieve aches, pains, low energy, and stress. We are all vibrational energy. When we are healthy our body vibrates at a set range of 60-80 cycles per second (CSP). Disease vibrates at an even lower frequency. The energy, or vibration, of someone who is ill tends to be lower than when well. If you are feeling stressed out, you may be decreasing your body’s ability to stay healthy. Reiki is used to heal and rebalance the body’s energy. It brings peace and calm to awaken the body’s own healing abilities. Ask for a brochure for more information or leave a message on the Body Work Hotline (ext. 56) and Christine Kurz will return your call.

WOMAN’S STRENGTH TRAINING GROUPS [01124]
As women, we know it is important to keep our bodies healthy and strong. We are here to teach you strength training exercises on the Nautilus and free weight equipment so you feel more confident in the Wellness Center. Sign up for our FREE weekly small group strength training classes at the front desk.

HEALTH CIRCLE
Do you sometimes struggle with stopping and starting your wellness plan? Do you need more support to be successful to achieve your health and wellness goals? Consider joining us for Health Circle! This is a program where we will discuss health and well being. There will be significant group participation and sharing as well as opportunities to meet other YMCA members who need support and guidance on their journey through health and well being. Included in this program is group personal training as well as other opportunities to connect with YMCA wellness staff. No registration needed, just drop in!

THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE
The Alexander Technique is an educational process through which you can learn to identify and change poor physical habits of movement, posture, tension, and reaction in everyday activity. It is taught through a combination of verbal and visual cues, and a gentle, guiding touch. Learning the Alexander Technique allows you to:
- Improve posture, balance, and coordination
- Reduce strain and muscular tension
- Increase range of motion
- Relieve and prevent pain
- Find a better way to manage stress
- Access a greater resource of energy
- Prevent injury
- Improve confidence and self-control
- Enjoy greater mind/body awareness

THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE: INDIVIDUAL LESSON [01561]
The Alexander Technique is most commonly taught in a private lesson format, so that students can get one-on-one instruction to address individual needs. Learn to unravel stress while you lie on a
bodywork table to prevent harmful habits of tension and movement. The Alexander Technique can help people of all ages prevent or alleviate conditions associated with excess tension and poor posture, such as neck, back and shoulder pain. Please register and pay at the front desk. The instructor will contact you to make date and time arrangements. THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE – CLASSES [01561]
Enroll for this short series of classes and become familiar with the
basic principles of the Alexander Technique while you explore how your mind and body can work together to reduce stress and improve your body mechanics in everyday movements, such as sitting, standing, bending, walking, and lying down. This class is suitable for beginners and those wishing to refresh their skills. Space is limited – please register at the front desk.
