CALENDAR
The Walnut Street YMCA Black Achiever's 2005 calendar was full of enriching activities. The following list highlights one of the many activities that were planned each month including commentary from our Youth Achievers.

February
Peter Spencer African American History Tour - Mother African Church Union Church
The Mother African Union Church tour was a great experience! The Harriet Tubman impersonator was great. She made us feel as though we were alive during that time and experienced the life of a slave.

March

The Start of the College Tour to North Carolina
The North Carolina College Tour was also merged with Ezion-Mount Caramel Church. The college tour provided us with opportunities to look at colleges of interest such as Winston Salem University, North Carolina A&T, Johnson C. Smith University, Duke University, Wake Forest, and North Carolina Central University.

April
Youth in Government trip to the Delaware State Capital in Dover

The Youth in Government (trip to the Delaware State Capital in Dover) was a chance for us to experience the Senate and House of Representatives when they are in session. I was especially happy because my bill (heighten the penalties of cocaine charges) was passed and signed into law.

May
Community Service Project for Delaware Marathon

Black Achiever's volunteered at the Riverfront in Downtown Wilmington at the Delaware Marathon. We passed out water to exasperated runners who desperately needed water along the way. We had plenty of fun.
June- MegaBiz Fest

July
Black Achiever's Basketball Game Fundraiser

During this month we had our 2nd annual basketball game. At this game we sold candy and provided entertainment for our guests. Entertainment was provided by The Heavenly Angels Stepping Team. Some Youth Achievers actually had their own stepping team. and out own personal DJ. Personal Funds went to our Six Flags Trip.

August
Annual Trip ( Six Flags)

Finally!!! One more year of Black Achievers has been completed and we went to Six Flags to celebrate. The trip was a success. We rolled around in The Wild Safari, and looked at plenty of interesting animals such as wild kudus, addax's, and white bengal tiger's. Animals you definitely would not see in your regular zoo. Besides the long lines, we had a fun time.
