In an effort to meet every member’s scheduling and exercise needs, the Downtown YMCAs offer over 50 group fitness classes each week. Classes are offered throughout the day, including before and after work. There is also a great variety in the types and levels of classes. All fitness classes are FREE to full privilege members, and no registration is required. BEGINNER
Balletone
This energizing non-impact workout is a Body-Blaster leaving no muscle untouched with a unique blend of strength and flexibility movements, which combines classical ballet exercises with modern fitness concepts.
CARDIO JAM
This class is a total body workout. The class is made up of half cardio and half strength training. This class uses an assortment of equipment including but not limited to free weights, body bars, tubing and stability balls. All levels welcome!
Advanced
ADVANCED STEP
This is a faster-paced STEP workout, which features advanced choreography. Prior STEP experience recommended.
DOUBLE STEP
You haven’t done step until you’ve done double step! Get ready for the mental and physical challenge of using two step platforms in this awesome cardio workout.
H.E.A.T.
High Energy Athletic Training: A combination of kickboxing, boot camp drills, and plyometrics. Can you handle the HEAT?
Intermediate
AB BUSTER PLUS
Our hard “core” workout just got better, because now we’re doing it “on the ball.” The stability ball is effective for strengthening your abs, lower back and hips. The ball’s soft, flexible surface provides a full range of motion and optimum body position for targeting the muscles. A great class to attend after your cardiovascular workout or all by itself!
BASIC TRAINING/BOOT CAMP
A high intensity, high energy class designed to get your heart pumping. Uses high, moderate, and low impact drills designed to burn calories and improve cardiovascular fitness.
KickBOXING
Burn calories while relieving stress! A NO CONTACT boxing workout that combines kicks, punches, and fancy footwork. Work on your strength, balance, coordination, and cardiovascular system all at once.

BODYCOMBAT™
is the empowering cardio workout where you are totally unleashed. This fiercely energetic program is inspired by martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as karate, boxing, taekwondo, tai chi and muay thai. Supported by driving music and powerful role model instructors, strike, punch, kick and kata your way through calories to superior cardio fitness. All levels welcome. BODYPUMPTM

Hot sounds and compelling choreography keep you going through each 45-minute or one-hour workout. BODYPUMPTM challenges you to lift beyond your limits while you:

CARDIO PARTY
You get it all in this 90 min. class. This class format includes a warmup, 30 minutes of cardio, 20 min. of lower body, 20 min. of upper body, 10 minutes of abs and a cooldown. This class uses a variety of exercises and equipment. Join us for the total body workout experience.
FITNESS & DEFENSE
Fat shedding, calorie burning, total body workout. Learn the physical and technical levels of training using focus mitts, jump ropes, heavy bags and a variety of equipment. This is the Ultimate kickboxing workout that teaches you practical self defense techniques, in a high energy class. No dance style coordination needed class. All this in 30 min.
HAVE A BALL
This one hour class does it all! Through intervals of cardio drills, toning exercises, Pilates, abdominal and core work, and stretching, you’ll work your entire body with the help of the stability ball & Have a Ball in the process!!
STEP & ABS
Rev up your engine with a cardio workout using the step! After you have worked your heart and the lungs, you will work your mid-section with abdominal and lower back work.
STEP INTERVAL
Combine the best of both worlds in this workout. After warming up, you will be challenged by alternating bouts of STEP and intense muscle conditioning. It is the most complete workout you can get.
STEP
A high intensity, low impact cardiovascular workout using the step. Express Step is a 30 minute class.
TNT: Tone and Tighten
An effective, safe weight training class using a variety of exercises and equipment to help learn proper form while toning and building muscle, strength and endurance.
Zumba
ZUMBA is a fusion of Latin and International music - dance themes creating a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system! Zumba utilizes the principals of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps.
