Inclement Weather Policy
The Central Delaware YMCA and Aquatic Center will attempt to offer uninterrupted service and remain open as long as possible when there is inclement weather. Our goal is to offer the best member service possible without compromising the safety of our members and staff.
Cancellations and closures will be announced on the below listed local radio and TV stations during these situations. In the event of inclement weather, tune to these radio and TV stations. You can also check out cancellations and closures on our Web Page. Go to www.ymcade.org then click on the Central Delaware YMCA and Aquatic Center Branch.
For clarification purposes, please refer to the following:
- Morning Classes - includes all classes scheduled until noon. Any decisions regarding cancellation of morning classes will be made by 6:30 AM.
- Afternoon Classes - includes all classes scheduled from noon until 4:30 PM. Any decision regarding cancellation of afternoon classes will be made by 10:00 AM.
- Evening Classes - Includes all classes beginning at and after 4:30 PM. Any decision regarding cancellation of evening classes will be made by 3:00 PM.
- Babysitting - Every attempt will made to provide normal services, however please contact the YMCA at 674-3000 to find out if service is being available.
Child Development Programs
• Full Day Childcare - If YMCA facility is open - program will run as normal.
• Morning Giant Step Pre -School - If YMCA facility is open - program will run as normal.
• Afternoon Giant Step Pre-School - The decision to run the program will be made by 10:00 AM - contact the YMCA at 674-3000 or listen to the below listed radio stations.
• School Age Childcare (K-8)
- If public school is cancelled for the day, we will not be able to provide service.
- If public school announces an early dismissal we will not be able to provide service; however, we will continue to provide care to the Kindergarten children already in our building. Under no circumstances, due to safety concerns will we be able to provide transportation due to the weather conditions.
- If public school announces a school delay, we will provide service at the YMCA for children registered to our Early Morning Care programs starting at 7:00 a.m.
