Dear Parent/Guardian,
Welcome to another fun and safe summer camp experience here at the Central Delaware YMCA & Aquatic Center. We have some new additions to our camp activities, as well as the traditional aspects that make our camps special. Throughout the summer, your child will participate in swimming, group games, character development, arts and crafts, and other activities to make this summer a memorable one. Day camp staff are chosen based upon their previous experience working with children. All staff have received 20 hours of training specific to summer camp, and also are both CPR and First Aid certified.
Please review the following ground rules for camp with your child and encourage them to do their best.

Ground Rules:
The purpose of camp is to have FUN!!! Throughout camp, children are encouraged to display our four main character values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. These values are represented by the four colors red, blue, yellow, and green. Every Friday, we have a fiesta that celebrates the campers displaying these important values. Here are some short descriptions on the four core values.

Caring: Be kind to friends, family, and counselors.
Honesty: Tell the truth at all times.
Respect: Treat your fellow campers and friends as you would like to be treated. Listen to counselors and friends when they are talking. Respect other campers and their belongings.
Responsibility: Help parents/guardians pack for your camp day. Don’t forget the everyday items you need to bring to camp. Take care of the camp property and grounds. Clean up after yourself and remember to take all your belongings home at the end of the day.

Bullying, dangerous play and violence will not be tolerated. Our policies on discipline include redirection, verbal warning, one-on-one discussions, timeouts, parent conferences, suspension, and removal from the program. Schedules will be available at the front desk two weeks prior to the start of your child’s day camp. They will also be available each week at your camp location. If you have any questions about the information contained in this handbook or summer camp, please contact me at 346-YMCA.

Sincerely,
Josh Tucker
