RECREATIONAL SWIM
Anyone in a floatation device is not permitted in the deep end of
the pool at any time. For any member / guest regardless of age. During this time, anyone 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult (18 years or older). No child 12 years of age or under will be permitted in the deep end without passing the Deep Water Swim Test. See the lifeguard or Aquatic Director. Any child that requires the use of a floatation device must be accompanied “in the water” by an adult at all times and the adult must be within arms reach of the child. “Swimmies” are not permitted in the pool. (We suggest U. S. Coast Guard approved Personal Floatation Device (PFD) or Type II PFD) Please see the pool schedule for available Open Swim times. Noodles & kickboards may be used in shallow area only.

Recreational Swim Policy (Youth Ages 12 And Up)
To swim without an adult present, children ages 12 & up must...
• Be able to touch the bottom of the pool in the shallow end
• Follow all procedures for unsupervised children
• Read and understand locker room policy, pool rules, and recreational swim policy.
• All children using swimming aids must be within arm’s reach of an adult who is in the pool. In addition, they are not permitted in the deep end of the pool
• Pass deep-water test – swim 25 yards continuously and tread water for two (2) minutes unassisted.
• Upon completion of the swim test, participant’s name will be entered into the Deep Water Swim Test book by the Lifeguard or Aquatic Director for future reference.
• Diving is not permitted.
• No food or beverages or gum allowed in pool/locker room areas.
• Only bathing suits permitted in the pool – no shirts, shorts or cutoffs.
• Masks and snorkels are not permitted.

LAP SWIMMING
Lap swimming provides individuals the opportunity to swim continuous laps and perform personal workouts during the posted
lap swimming times. Lap swimming is reserved for those who can swim complete laps. Please observe the posted rules of NO DIVING into the shallow or deep end of the pool or any lane. This is for your safety and the safety of others. Please be courteous to the swimmer in the lane and let them know you are joining in. Swimmers have different styles and preference, check to see if the lane you are entering in is “circle” swimming or “split – lane” swimming. The YMCA reserves the right to “increase” or “decrease” the lap lane availability based on pool usage. For your convenience, we have a Lap Swimming Etiquette brochure in the front area for your referral.

ADULT SWIM
For those 18 years of age and older.
