GROUP GUITAR LESSONS
For 4th graders through adults; Group lessons; minimum 5, maximum 10 participants per class.
Instructor: Nathan Ames, of Ames Music Studio, Harrington, DE.

Guitar 1
Beginning instruction for the guitar. The student will learn open chords, movable chords and accompaniment techniques. The course also includes music fundamentals, theory, performance, composing, improvising, analyzing and learning how to read standard music notation and tablature.

Prerequisites: Students must provide their own guitar. Acoustic guitars will be used, either nylon (classical) or steel string. If you do not have a guitar, one can be purchased through Ames Music Studio. Also, a method book is required for this course. The book is also available through Ames Music Studio.

Students will receive a number of handouts including worksheets, song sheets, note sheets, scales, chords, etc. Therefore, the student must maintain an organized notebook. A three-hole binder is recommended.

Guitar 1: Grades 4 – 6 Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Guitar 1: Grades 7 thru adult Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Classes held in YMCA preschool room.

FEES PER TEN-WEEK SESSION:
Full Members $35 / Program Members $135

Guitar School Method Book 1 costs $11, available at the first class.

Monthly Book Club
Exercise your mind and join the Y’s monthly book club. Come discuss your favorite books from all genres. The club is free and open to all members. We usually meet on the second Tuesday of the month. Contact Daniel Meloy (dmeloy@ymcade.org) for more information.

Vegetable Gardening – throughout summer
The Y’s Summer Camp program is teaching children healthier eating habits with its own vegetable garden. Volunteers are needed to help the children tend to the garden. Contact Linda Chantler (lchantler@ymcade.org) for more information.

29th Annual YMCA 5-Mile Run – Sunday, July 2
Volunteers are needed to help with runner registration, water stations, and finish line activities. Contact James Botti (jbotti@ymcade.org) for more information.

Dewey Beach Sprint Triathlon –
Thursday, September 15 through Saturday, September 17
