Welcome to Camp Tockwogh for the summer of 2012.

We are excited that you will be joining (or re-joining) our community this upcoming summer. Our camper families, both new and returning, make up the fabric of our camp. Without all of you, this place would not be what it is today, and so we also thank you for being a part of this community driven to provide positive life experiences for kids.

As the camp directors, we have worked over thirty summers at Y Camps combined. This is more than a job; it is a passion for us. We strive constantly to ensure that campers are safe, making friendships, learning new skills and having fun. We take the responsibility of safekeeping your child seriously and consider it our highest priority.

During the summer, we work directly with the counselors and unit leaders. Our approach is very hands-on, as we believe that in order to lead a community, you have to actively participate in it. This allows us to ensure camper safety, monitor program quality, and most importantly interact with campers and staff.

We all have slightly different roles at camp, but we share the same mission. This mission remains vital, especially in our times. Kids have lost some of their innocence with 24-hour news media, Facebook, and video games. Certainly these technological advancements have their advantages and provide added convenience, but it has left many people asking whether or not children are growing up too fast.

Our community provides an alternative experience to the fast-paced society we experience daily. We allow kids to interact with one another in a safe and positive environment and teach lifelong skills that are absent in tweets and status updates. Our lessons center on the values of living in a community and contributing to it. Here we teach Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Campers learn social skills like cooperation, communication, problem-solving, confidence, empathy, and understanding. Our mission has been and will remain to impart these lessons to the campers who drive through our gates, and we are pleased to continue this tradition.
