From the President …

Dear Friends,
I am so proud of the growth of the YMCA of Delaware.
George Land in his book Grow or Die: The Unifying Principle of Transformation asserts that all living organisms are either growing or dying; there is no sustainable stasis. I believe this is also true for the YMCA. There is no such thing as the status quo; there simply is no in-between. Community organizations that seek to “maintain” can rust before our very eyes if we are not careful.

The YMCA of Delaware remains relevant and responsive to contemporary community needs – not just by growing bigger or replicating proven programs and facilities – but by carefully reinventing itself. Today’s YMCA is different than the past and will be in the future.

This issue of “Mission” highlights some of our recent growth.

Sincerely,
Michael P. Graves
President, YMCA of Delaware
