Staying Relevant
Community support has kept the YMCA of Delaware as relevant today as it was in 1889, the first day its doors opened. The Strong Kids Campaign continues to be to help ensure that the YMCA will never have to make the decision to turn any individuals away due to their financial hardship. We stand behind this promise. Last year financial aid through the YMCA of Delaware provided more then 13,000 program opportunities and more than 2,500 membership opportunities to those community members who most needed assistance. Our work is not finished.

With your continued support and dedication to the children and families of Delaware, we will continue to:
• Teach life saving swim lessons to more than 15,000 of children each year
• Bring the enriching experience of resident camp to 1,500 children at Camp Tockwogh
• Provide a safe place after school and in child care programs for more than 4,500 children
• Coach more then 9,000 youth in team-building sports and recreational programs
• Impact more then 10,000 teens with programs that focus on important “Developmental Assets”

The Y Story

Teaching a life long skill?
“The YMCA has helped my son to grow. He has found himself within the YMCA Swim Program. He has been able to interact with other children in a safe and fun environment. My little boy has also learned to swim, and his confidence has greatly improved.”
– YMCA Mother

Providing a life time memory?
To say YMCA Camp has lasted in my daughter’s memory is an understatement. As I write this, Sally is a mother of three and every one of her children love camp as she did. She loves building new camping memories through her children.
– Sally’s Father

Keeping children safe?
The YMCA has allowed my son to not worry about Mommy. He has been able to interact with other children in a safe after-school environment. The YMCA has been such a special gift to my family.
– YMCA Member

Being part of a team?

There is nothing more important then having children playing together as a team. My daughter has learned the game of soccer, and when she scored her very first goal: WOW, she will remember
that moment forever.
