Sussex YMCA Opens New Pickleball Courts

Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Tuesday, October 14 at 4:30 pm

Rehoboth Beach, DE — The Sussex Family YMCA is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its brand-new outdoor pickleball courts, adding an exciting new way for members and the community to stay active, connect, and enjoy one of the fastest-growing sports in America.

To celebrate this exciting addition, the Rehoboth Beach–Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce will host a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at the Sussex Family YMCA on Tuesday, October 14, at 4:30 p.m., officially opening the courts for play.

Designed with recreation and community in mind, the new courts offer opportunities for friendly matches, open play, and small group gatherings for all skill levels. Whether you’re an experienced player or picking up a paddle for the first time, the Sussex Family YMCA invites everyone to join in the fun, fitness, and fellowship that pickleball brings.

“These new courts are more than a place to play,” said LoriKay “LK” Paden, Community Vice President & Executive Director of the Sussex Family YMCA. “They’re a space for community connection, wellness, and joy — reflecting everything the Y stands for.”

The courts are fully lit for evening play and are located just steps from the Y’s main facility, providing a vibrant new hub for outdoor recreation. Members can drop in anytime during open hours throughout the school year, while summer play will be available during evening hours to accommodate youth programs.

With the addition of the pickleball courts, the Sussex Family YMCA continues to enhance its campus as a destination for health, wellness, and community engagement for people of all ages.
