Great Human Race 5K

Sunday, September 10th

Join us in partnership with the West Wilmington Seventh Day Adventist Church, as we get to know one another and celebrate what unites us as a community. Plus, enjoy a variety of foods from around the world, and entertainment for the entire family including international games, special global performances, moon bounce, photo booth, raffles & more!

RACE COST: $25/per person in advance ($30/ per person day of event)


• Tee shirts for all pre-registered runners and walkers.

Deaf Awareness Month

September is YMCA Deaf Awareness Month. “According to the World Health Organization, more than 5% of the world’s population has ‘disabling’ hearing loss, which requires rehabilitation, support and/or advocacy. Additionally, more than 1 billion young adults are at risk of permanent hearing loss due to unsafe listening practices. It is estimated that more than 700 million people – or 1/10 people – will have disabling hearing loss by 2050.

Healthy Aging Month

September is Healthy Aging Month, an annual health observance designed to focus national attention on the positive aspects of growing older. It’s not too late to take control of your health, it’s never too late to get started on something new.

For instance, the ancient Greeks believed the goddess Persephone returned to Hades in the underworld at the beginning of fall. Your donation ensures that everyone has access to the life changing programs at the YMCA. Donors support a wide range of programs including, but not limited to: summer camp for low-income children, at-risk teen programming, drowning prevention, before and after school enrichment, chronic disease prevention, and so much more.

This year’s golf event will benefit the Western Family YMCA and ensure that no one is turned away for the inability to pay!

Two rooms for drop-in babysitting:

Kids Zone Room One: 6 weeks – 4 years old

Kids Zone Room Two: 5 – 11 years old

  • Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • Monday – Thursday: 5 – 8:15 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Sunday: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
