Documentary Premiere Explores 85 Years of Impact at the Walnut Street YMCA

Wilmington, Delaware – The YMCA of Delaware invites members of the media and the community to attend the premiere of The Walnut Street Y: Passport to Possibilities, a short documentary by historian and author Dr. Jeanne Nutter. This free community viewing event is open to the public. Registration is required, and donations to support the Y’s mission are welcome.

Passport to Possibilities chronicles the profound impact of the Walnut Street YMCA on Wilmington over the past 85 years, highlighting its role as a gateway to opportunity for generations of residents. Through powerful personal stories and rare archival footage, the documentary explores how the Walnut Street YMCA has helped shape leadership, education, wellness, and social connection—while playing a meaningful role in the city’s civil rights history and community life.

The evening will include a cocktail reception, remarks from Dr. Nutter, and the premiere of the documentary.
