The YMCA of Delaware is a not-for-profit health and human services organization committed to helping people grow in spirit, mind, and body. The YMCA is here to serve people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and incomes. The Y is community-based and efforts are made to make its programs and services available to everyone. That’s why the YMCA offers an Open Doors Financial Assistance program. Open Doors provides a sliding fee scale that is designed to fit each individual’s financial situation.
Before You Sign Up for Open Doors
The YMCA requires that individuals reapply when their membership expires, or when requested, to keep the information on their application updated. The ability of the YMCA to respond to requests for assistance is dependent upon the success of fundraising projects and the current operating financial situation. Financial assistance rarely covers 100% of the total membership or program fee. Your fees are subject to increase when you reapply. If you do not reapply when requested, your enrollment may be terminated.
To process your application, we will need a copy of your current Federal Tax Return for all adults in the household to verify household income. If you did not file taxes, we ask that you provide the following (as applies):
- Copy of last two pay stubs
- Copy of social security or disability checks (or copy of bank statement showing amount of automatic monthly deposit).
- Copy of retirement/pension income
- Copy of child support
- Copy of state assistance, including food stamps
- Copy of unemployment checks
