Wilmington, DE — The YMCA of Delaware proudly announces the appointment of Jai Posey as the Senior Childcare Director for the YMCA Early Learning Academy, opening in Spring 2026 at the Community Education Building (CEB) Youth Development Center in Wilmington.
With more than 15 years of experience in education, youth development, and family engagement, Posey brings a deep commitment to equity, access, and excellence in early childhood education. She believes that “early education is where transformation begins—for children, families, and communities alike.”
Posey’s career began in childcare while she was in college, where she discovered her passion for nurturing young learners. Since then, she has held leadership roles across the country, including Family Engagement Coordinator, Preschool Director of Education, Dean of Students, and Director of Early Learning Transitions, helping early education programs build and scale high-quality, equitable systems.
A graduate of Temple University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Eastern University with a Master’s in Youth Development, Posey also holds Child Development Credentials in California, Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. She has been recognized for her academic excellence, leadership, and advocacy for early childhood professionals.
At the YMCA of Delaware, Posey will oversee the launch and operation of the YMCA Early Learning Academy, one of the anchor programs at the CEB Youth Development Center. Her vision is clear: “Equity is expected. Joy is protected. High quality is non-negotiable.”
The YMCA Early Learning Academy, set to open in the Spring of 2026, will provide high-quality, inclusive early learning opportunities for children from infancy through pre-K, fostering academic achievement, social skills, and emotional growth. The Y’s new program builds on its long-standing commitment to ensuring every child has a strong start in life, regardless of income. As part of a broader partnership with the Community Education Building, the Academy will play a key role in expanding access to early education and opportunity for families in Wilmington, ensuring every child has the chance to learn, grow, and thrive. “The first five years of a child’s life are foundational — shaping how they learn, connect with others, and navigate the world,” said Georganne Buccine, Vice President of Youth Development at the YMCA of Delaware. “In Wilmington, where strong early childhood education programs can transform futures, Jai brings both the vision and expertise to lead that change. Her leadership at the YMCA Early Learning Academy will ensure every child receives the nurturing start they deserve. This work will not only empower young learners but will also strengthen families and lay the groundwork for a more vibrant, resilient community.”
Outside of work, Posey is deeply involved in community sports and family engagement, organizing youth flag football leagues and empowerment programs that bring people together through connection and play.
The YMCA of Delaware Early Learning Academy at the CEB represents the organization’s ongoing commitment to providing accessible, high-quality early education for all families—laying the foundation for lifelong success and stronger communities.
