S.W.A.M. (Swimming With Autism)
The YMCA of Delaware, in partnership with Autism Delaware, offers the S.W.A.M. (Swimming With Autism) program, a specialized water safety initiative for children and adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Based on the “Swimming With Autism” curriculum developed by the Autism Society of San Diego, these special needs swim lessons provide tailored instruction to enhance skills and ensure water safety in a supportive environment. Participants engage in fun, interactive lessons designed to build confidence, promote social interaction, and encourage a lifelong love of swimming. Through S.W.A.M., the YMCA aims to create an inclusive space where individuals with ASD can thrive and enjoy the benefits of aquatic activities.
