Lefty’s Alley And Eats Double’s The Y’s Impact

Lewes, DelawareLefty’s Ally and Eats recently donated $2,500 to support the Sussex Family YMCA Summer camp in Delaware, matching $2500 in gifts from the community. Thanks to $5,000 in donations, 20 local children were given the opportunity to have the “Best Summer Ever” at the Sussex Family Y summer camp.

“Many people don’t realize the Y is a non-profit charity with a mission to strengthen our community,” said Tamisha Hopkins, Executive Director of the Sussex Family YMCA. “With the support of donors and caring organizations like Lefty’s, we are able to provide much-needed financial assistance to local families, ensuring that everyone has access to vital programs and resources like summer camp. Our impact would not be possible without generous supporters like Lefty’s, and we are so grateful for their continued support.”

In 2020, the Sussex Family YMCA provided more than $45,000 in financial assistance to members and program participants, and sent more than 120 children to Summer Camp where they were able to learn, grow and have the “best summer ever”. YMCA summer camps nurture and enrich development, spark curiosity, and inspire creativity by providing a safe place to learn fundamental skills, build self-reliance and confidence, and establish healthy, trusting relationships. To help prevent summer learning loss, language arts, reading, science and math are incorporated into activities to support students academically during the summer months.
