YMCA Camp Tockwogh Hero Fund Invites First Responders and Military Families to Apply for Summer Camp Scholarships

Limited spots remain for unforgettable Chesapeake Bay camp experience!

Delaware – The YMCA of Delaware is now accepting applications for the Camp Tockwogh Hero Fund, a special scholarship opportunity exclusively for first responders and military families who live or work in Delaware.

With just 28 spots remaining, eligible families are encouraged to apply soon.

This unique opportunity is made possible through a generous gift from an alumni family who wishes to remain anonymous. The Hero Fund was created to recognize and support the everyday heroes who serve our communities, and the families who support them.

Through the Hero Fund, selected families will receive a two-week overnight camp session (June 28–July 10) at a 75% discounted rate.

Located in Worton, Maryland, along the scenic Chesapeake Bay, YMCA Camp Tockwogh offers an unforgettable overnight camp experience on 301 acres of protected wetlands, with over 2 miles of waterfront. Campers unplug from screens and routines and reconnect with nature, adventure, and each other.

At Camp Tockwogh, kids gain confidence, build independence, and form lifelong friendships through activities like swimming, boating, outdoor exploration, team-building challenges, and campfire traditions. With over 40 rustic cabins, group lodges, and a welcoming community, camp provides a safe and supportive environment where every child can thrive.

“This opportunity recognizes the strength and sacrifice of first responders and military families by investing in their children,” said Elizabeth Staib-King, YMCA Camp Tockwogh Executive Director. “Camp Tockwogh is a place where kids can disconnect from the everyday, build lifelong friendships, and discover who they are in a supportive, inspiring environment.”

In addition to the Hero Fund, the YMCA of Delaware offers need-based financial assistance to help ensure all families have access to camp and youth programs, regardless of income. This support is made possible through generous donors and community partners who believe every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and thrive.

Camp Tockwogh is located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, about 45 minutes from Wilmington, DE, and within driving distance of Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.

Applications are now open, and available spots are limited. The application period may close early once all scholarships have been awarded.

Selected families will receive an email with registration instructions and next steps.
