YMCA of Delaware Joins Five Days Of Action To Protect Children From Sexual Abuse

Weeklong Campaign Will Raise Awareness & Protect Children From Sexual Abuse

Wilmington, Delaware – The YMCA of Delaware is participating in the Five Days of Action, April 24-28, 2023. The Five Days of Action is a weeklong campaign to raise awareness and inspire adults to take action to protect children from sexual abuse.

The YMCA of Delaware encourages adults and organizations to join us on our journey to create safe places for children to live, learn, and play. With summer right around the corner—when children gather for activities and camps, it is the ideal time to bring attention to the simple ways we can all make the children in our community safer.

During the Five Days of Action, the YMCA of Delaware will promote three critical steps of prevention, KNOW. SEE. RESPOND., to help adults better protect children. When adults know how abuse happens, see the warning signs, and respond quickly to prevent abuse, they foster a culture of child abuse prevention.

“At the Y, we are committed to ensuring every child is healthy, safe, and on a pathway to success. It is our responsibility as adults to provide that pathway and protect them from harm,” said Jarrett Royster, CEO of the YMCA of Delaware. “By joining in the Five Days of Action campaign, we hope to inspire other organizations and members of our community to stand up and take action. Together, we can bring awareness to the issue of child sexual abuse in our communities and have important conversations about how we can all work together to prevent it from happening.”
