YMCA of Delaware To Host Healthy Kids Day

YMCA of Delaware Invites Families Statewide to Healthy Kids Day to Kick Off Summer

Free and open to the public – Saturday, April 18th, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Wilmington, Delaware – The YMCA of Delaware is hosting the Y’s annual Healthy Kids Day® on Saturday, April 18th, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at multiple locations across the state. This free event features a variety of family-friendly activities to encourage healthy kids, healthy families, and a healthy start to the summer season.

Families across the First State are invited to enjoy an exciting lineup of arts and crafts, games, music, and giveaways, all designed to inspire kids to stay active and healthy. Parents can jump into the action too, by trying group exercise classes. The Y welcomes the community to connect with local organizations offering valuable resources to support well-being. Join the Y for a day of play, movement, and family fun.

Offerings vary by location. For more information on specific activities by branch, visit https://www.ymcade.org/hkd/

“At the Y, we’re dedicated to creating safe, supportive spaces and providing the resources every child needs to thrive,” said Jarrett Royster of the YMCA of Delaware. “This community event is a chance for families to have fun together while reinforcing the importance of staying active and engaged in learning all summer long.”

Healthy Kids Day is the Y’s national initiative aimed at improving the health and well-being of kids and families, especially during the critical summer months. When school is out, many children lose access to regular physical activity and learning opportunities, increasing the risk of academic setbacks and unhealthy weight gain. Healthy Kids Day shines a spotlight on these challenges while encouraging families to build healthy habits that last beyond the classroom. Through programs like summer camp, sports, swimming, and teen leadership, the YMCA helps kids stay active, engaged, and on track all summer long.

Healthy Kids Day will be held at the following YMCA of Delaware branches:

  • Western Family YMCA – 2600 Capitol Trail, Newark, DE 19711
  • Brandywine YMCA – 3 Mount Lebanon Rd. Wilmington, DE 19803

  • Dover YMCA – 1137 South State Street, Dover DE 19901
  • Sussex Family YMCA – 20080 Church Street, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971
