YMCA of Delaware Welcomes New Executive Director at the Sussex Family Y

Rehoboth, DE– The YMCA of Delaware is excited to welcome Joshua Lewis as the new Executive Director at the Sussex Family Y located on Church Street in Rehoboth.

Josh has worked for the YMCA for more than two decades and comes to the Delaware team with a wealth of experience. During his tenure at the Oldham County YMCA in Kentucky, Josh served in several leadership capacities, creating positive change, and building successful programs that served children and families in his community. In his most recent YMCA position at YMCA of Greater Louisville, Josh led Youth Sports for the entire Association of 10 YMCAs and most notably rebuilt sports programming after they were shut down due to Covid.

“We are thrilled to welcome Josh to our Y of Delaware team,” says Jim Kelly, Interim CEO of the YMCA of Delaware. “With his passion and dedication to the YMCA mission, Josh will be a great fit to deepen our impact within the Sussex community.”

The Sussex YMCA features a state-of-the-art fitness center, an indoor pool, sauna, full-size basketball gymnasium, several group exercise studios and more. Many programs are available at the Y including, swim lessons, summer camp, before and after school care, teen programs, free group exercise classes and personal training. The Sussex Y proudly provides nearly $50,000 in financial assistance each year, ensuring that everyone, regardless of income, has access to all the Y has to offer. In 2021, more than 225 children were able to attend summer camp at the Y thanks to financial assistance, and nearly 230 learned life-saving water safety and swimming skills.

“I am excited to continue my YMCA journey here in Delaware and am most looking forward to building community while expanding our impact in the Sussex area,” says Josh. “Providing an inclusive space where everyone feels welcomed, offering quality programs for all, and increasing family programming to meet the needs of our ever-growing community are top priorities.”
